The Abbe Museum in Bar Harbor is a museum of Wabanaki art, history, and culture. The first and only Smithsonian Affiliate in Maine, the Abbe’s intention is to be inclusive, collaborative, and mindful of cultural history and works closely with Wabanaki people to share their stories, history, and culture with a broader audience. The Museum’s 70,000+ collections consist of nationally recognized artworks by Wabanaki artists, including the largest and best-documented collection of Maine Native American basketry in any museum.
